Lexi Vernale (Morris Delancey/Ike)

My name is Alexanderia Vernale but everyone calls me Lexi. I am fourteen years old and have spent my entire education in Ana Grace Academy of the Arts Elementary School and Middle School. I will also be moving on to the High School this fall. I have always loved the arts and music since I was just a kid, my mother says I don’t remember because I was too young. In this production I am playing Morris Delancey and Ike, who is one with the Newsie crew.
I have been in many small productions in elementary school. One summer I was in a Farmington Summer Camp where I was Zazu. I told my mother I loved that role because it was sassy. We did not have many opportunities to do community theatre until we moved to Ellington and learned about Ellington Community Theatre. I was cast in Peter Pan as Curly, the lost boy who shoots Wendy out of the sky. The production was so much fun and had me hooked. The following year, with few speaking roles I was cast as a flying monkey, and chorus in Oz. I was too tall to be a munchkin at the time. At my school I was in a small production of The Arkansaw Bear where I was the bear struggling to come to terms with my aging body. I was in my school's Suzuki Drama where I played the main role of Orpheus, who was on a mission to save his father from Hades and bring back music to the Gods. In this role I was both the character and I played the Cello.
Besides my love and passion for acting I am a Cellist and got accepted into Regionals this year which was super exciting as I could not try out for two years thanks to the virus. My family is very much into game night and we do a lot of voices and characters randomly on car drives and in the house. Sometimes breaking out into terrible musical productions of random day to day dilemmas. You do not wish to see these productions, funny but sung out of key.
I would like to thank my mother for being there for me throughout all of this and getting me into theater, if it wasn't for her, I wouldn't be the theater kid I am today! I would also like to thank the cast and tech for being amazing and being able to put on this production this year. COVID has really restricted all of us from the things we love, so being able to finally put on a production this year has really made me delighted!
